![]() ![]() TLDR: If this is just for friends, Sponge is probably a good option, but in terms of relevance, Spigot is a safer bet. ![]() The longer this goes on, the greater Spigot's hold on the ecosystem due to the reliance of server owners on spigot plugins, and the less likely it becomes that owners will choose sponge. ![]() Be sure to wait for it to fully upload before leaving this page. Click on Upload button and use the next page to add your plugin files to the server. Find your mods folder and click on it to enter it. Consequently, less owners using sponge leads to less plugins developed for sponge, making the platform look even less attractive. In your server’s control panel, click on FTP File Access tab on the left side of the page and login with your control panel password. Granted the launcher system improves this problem, but never underestimate the laziness of people. Because if this, sponge has a real problem-how do you convince server owners to use your platform when players want the latest features of Minecraft? If you're a niche sort of server with a long term player base that's one thing, but if you rely primarily on new players, not being on the latest version is a huge barrier to discovery. I want to like them, and I'm sure what they're developing is better than spigot, but realistically it's 2019, and they don't have a build out for 1.13 yet, which was released about half a year ago. I just think that sponge is so behind that the chance of them ever catching up is not very high. ![]()
